Small cell lung cancer (Lora) 06-02-11 re: Small cell lung cancer (Stan) 06-02-11
My mother was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in July of 99. The tumor was the size of an orange. They give her six months. Well, mom and I will be going shopping tomorrow. She has only had chemo to date. Her Dr. is very good and orders full body scans every 3 months. Her tumor is now the size of a dime and has not spread. The only problem she has had is the chemo has caused stomach ulcers and she needed a transfusion. As long as she watches her diet and takes her meds, she does fine. Will my mother live forever..."no", but each day is one more day that we have cheated this awful thing. There is hope, she needs to remain positive and keep doing things that she likes to do. My mother who always had a weight problem, doesn't have that problem anymore, so she eats like a pig, "good food of course". Her Dr.'s are so amazed, they actually said that they don't know why she is still here, but no one is going to try and figure out why. Hang in there, and I will say a prayer for all involved.
