    Interested in moving to CLF
      Hello,

Due to a job transfer we sold our home in Lake Jackson Texas.  The home sold very quickly leaving us no  time to look for a home to buy.    As we approach the end of our lease we need to consider our next move.

After looking in various subdivisions and communities we feel CLF may be the right fit for us.  Would those of you who live in CLF be willing to email us at m_kharvey@sbcglobal.net and give us your own impressions of the community?

We left our last neighborhood with some regrets.  We banded together after Ike and helped each other, we were on a first name basis with almost all of our neighbors and we looked after those who needed help due to age.

We are interested in a mix of  young and old with a strong sense of community.

      Regards,

      Mike and Kathy Harvey

    Clear Lake Tea Party

Clear Lake  Forest Residents we are on the cusp of a national political emergency.  Our Congress has decided that they are better able to make even the most personal decisions than we are.  Further, they are willing to tax, without representation, our children and grandchildren in direct violation of the limits placed on them by Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution of the United States, the Supreme Law of the Land.  We must take appropriate action now.  If we don’t remove the  offenders in 2010, we may never have another chance.  If you are as worried about the future of the Country as I, please join us in the Clear Lake Tea Party.  Go to www.clearlaketeaparty.com and sign up.  There is a lot to do and time is getting short.  It is definitely time to rock and roll. David Sullins

    Dog Walking Etiquette
Although to many of us, the “rules” are common sense, there are of course people who either don’t realize or choose not to follow the etiquette of dog walking. In order to clear up any potential confusion, I thought I would take this opportunity to be the “Miss Manners” of the dog world.

For example, when walking your pet in a neighborhood, it is not courteous to allow your dog to walk on people’s front lawns, or urinate on their mail boxes or landscaping. Instead, a more appropriate way to handle your pet is to walk him in the street or on the sidewalk and allow access only to “rough” areas to eliminate. Should your neighborhood not have such an area, it is still inappropriate to allow your pooch to pee on people’s property…steer clear of people’s plantings and posts also.

Picking up is another issue of concern. Dog walkers, please, don’t even leave your house without a plastic bag for picking up after your pet! And don’t forget to use it! I’ve had three different people tell me recently that they’ve seen people make a great show of pulling out their plastic bag when they see neighbors driving past, only to stuff it back in their pocket once the “coast is clear,” leaving the pile behind anyway.

Last but not least, remember that walking your dog means personally walking your dog on a leash. Numerous people have contacted me about neighbors who simply “send their dogs out” to do their business, which inevitably ends up on their property for them to clean up. While you may not mind the piles in your yard, your neighbors should not have to worry about it in theirs.

      Have A Great Day!

    Dogs
I don't own a dog but I know many of you do. While I don't have anything against dogs or their owners I do have a problem with going out in my yard and finding piles of dog mess left behind. If you are going to let your dog go in someone elses yard it sure would be nice if you would clean it up.

      Thank you..

    New "Post Message Form"
The message board  has been upgraded to use a new
      "Post Message Form".

Users will find a different interface when posting messages.
The new form gives users several new capabilities not
available under the old format. The new form allows users
to add attributes to their messages such as Bolding, Italizing,
Underlining, etc. in an easier fashion,
more akin to using a normal word processor.

Moving your cursor over the icons located on the formatting
toolbar will display the function of each icon. Although
you'll not see the Preview  links, there are icons on the
      formatting toolbar for each function.

In the near future, the intent is to add a Help link
on the  new post message form to provide further
      clarification on the new capabilities.

There's also a link in the upper right portion of the
      Post Message Form labeled: "Problems",
that when clicked on, will display the old format for any
user wanting to use the old posting format.
fyi: Some MacIntosh users, using the Safari browser, may
need to use that link if they are unable to use the new
      form.

Vandalism at Baronridge Park – REWARD OFFERED
Unfortunately we have had another episode of vandalism at the Park. As best we can determine, sometime on Sunday, March 13th, the wooden benches on the pier disappeared. It is not known if they were broken apart and tossed into the water or removed. It is our belief that this was probably done by a person(s) over the age of 13 or 14 years of age as it would be difficult for someone under that age to have the strength to remove the benches. The Association will offer a $100 total reward to the person(s) that identify those responsible for this act and which leads to the ability to take legal action. It is our intent to prosecute those responsible or seek restitution deemed appropriate or both. Please ask your kids or talk to your neighbors about this incident as we still don’t have emails for all residents. We have contacted the Pasadena Police and filed a report. We need to do all within our power to stop this senseless activity that costs all of us money. Please feel free to contact any Board Member via our website or by phone. Names & numbers are published in our quarterly newsletter. The most recent newsletter was mailed out last month

    Tennis Court Lights O.K.
The tennis court lights have been inoperable since about mid-February because of a defective relay. A new relay was ordered and has been installed and the light system is now functinal.

    Vandalism @ Tennis Courts
Sometime during the past couple of weeks, the tennis courts were vandalized. Someone got into the court area and on the South end of the first court, carved out an area about the size of a salad plate and put their initials in the court surface. CLFCA has filed a report with the Pasadena Police Department. In an effort to learn the identity of the vandal (s), CLFCA is offering a total cash reward of $100.00. The reward will be paid to the person (s) providing information if, in the sole opinion of the CLFCA Board, the identity is conclusive enough that we could prosecute. Further, if the identity can be determined, we intend to recover the cost of repairs and prosecute, if necessary, to obtain restitution. If you have any information or questions, please contact a Board Member
(see digital photo of damaged area at www.clearlakeforest.com\news_&_info.htm )

    Overnight Parking Citations
      Hello,
I was inquiring as to where I would be able to locate the city of Tavlor Lake Village law statutes. I have been attempting to locate the deed restriction / statute that refers to the overnight parking rules. I have been unable to locate references to overnight parking anywhere within the deed restrictions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks,
      -Nick Weber

Clear Lake Forest Deed Restriction Reminder/Clarification
      By
      Evvie Gilbert

As the Clear Lake Forest Community Association (CLFCA) board member responsible for Clear Lake Forest (CLF) Deed Restriction issues, I thought it would be wise to publish some reminders as we are not doing well as a community relative to certain of the restrictions and maintenance guidelines.

So, it was my thought that perhaps we need both this reminder and some clarification. The deed restrictions for each of the sections within CLF were defined by the developer and filed with Harris County at the time that each section was platted. When anyone purchases a home in CLF, they are also “buying” into these deed restrictions.

In addition to the deed restrictions are the Exterior Maintenance Guidelines. These guidelines were adopted by the previous Board and filed with Harris County and so although they are entitled “Guidelines”, they too are binding and are enforceable as part of the deed restrictions. A copy of the referenced “Guidelines” was included in each resident’s dues invoice for fiscal year 2002-2003.

Anyone who reads the CLF Deed Restrictions and Maintenance Guidelines may think, “Hey, what can they do to me if I decide to ignore them?” Well, CLFCA does not need to do much as the penalties for refusal to comply with the restrictions “Are enforced by statute”. These words are quoted because they were said by Judge Louie Ditta (in answer to the direct question) during a seminar that a couple of the CLFCA board members attended in his court. So, what that means is that the Deed Restrictions and Exterior Maintenance Guidelines are enforceable under state law.

So, just as our nation’s President is proposing an “amnesty” period for illegal aliens working in our country, we are writing this article to provide an “amnesty” period for many residents in CLF and provide everyone with the reminders. This “amnesty” period will end on April 1, 2004 - And no, that date was not chosen because we are fools. This date was selected to coincide with when the Log is published to allow everyone in the community more than 6 weeks to get their homes in order or as a minimum to start the process of compliance in such a manner that it is discernible.

The reminders listed below were selected because they are very widely ignored:

      1. There shall be no storage in public view of clutter or debris including but not limited to trash cans and building materials.
      2. Fences and gates must be level, plumb, square and in good repair.
      3. Lawns must be kept mowed, edged and weed free, flowerbeds must be kept free of weeds, and shrubs and tress must be kept trimmed.
      4. All painted surfaces must be clean and smooth with no bare areas or peeling paint, and all surfaces must be free of mildew and algae.
      5. All rotted or damaged wood must be replaced and any damaged brickwork repaired.
      6. Boats and trailers are to be stored in a location no closer to the street than the front building setback line, or in the case of a corner lot the side building line facing the street.
      7. No trees shall be cut except to provide room for construction of improvements or to remove dead or unsightly trees.

One more clarification: Many people are under the impression that if an issue is not visible from the street, the Association has no say but we need to call that an “Urban Legend” All of our deed restrictions say visible from the street or neighboring lots. That means if your neighbor can see it from their home, you are obliged to comply.

Good Luck to all and I sure hope the Association is not busy come April 1, 2004!
