It's Personal: My Wedding Day Click here to view ONLY this message

Today, oh so many years ago, was my wedding day. I woke up this morning with the instant recognition of what day it was, and was flooded with memories of that special day. By today's standards (actually by standards of that time as well!) it was a tiny, simple, unembellished wedding that was intimate & heartfelt. Low budget & all I would not have changed a thing about it. It was our life. Our wedding took place at the tiny Church where I grew up, in a small town known by only the few that spent their entire lives there. It was before the internet, before google and way before cell phones! And it was marvelous......honestly. It was definitely a "DIY" wedding long before "DIY" weddings became all the rage. Ours was not HGTV "diy", it really was "DIY" without all the mason jars and fancy decor. Ours was confined to the budget that we paid for as a couple.......at age 19..........from money saved from our part time jobs while in college. I made my own wedding dress. (I was a total seamstress!)  I borrowed the precious & beautiful veil from my best childhood friend. The only other truly significant items in our wedding (in addition to our rings!)  was the daisy floral that my friend & I spent countless hours while home on our break from college going from florist to florist in search of daisies in December.........almost impossible to find then. (Nowadays, you can get pretty much anything you want at any time of the year!) I was determined to have them & I did! And the second special item was the cake made by my cousin! Treasured for sure!

While I was not into photography at this stage of my life, I knew I wanted to hold on to these memories in print. Going to the studio to select the few photos we could afford was kinda' painful as I wanted them ALL! I am truly grateful for the 20 that I have to treasure.

As a photographer today, this photo would be unacceptable technically. My daisies are blurry and the photographer positioned the flash forward creating reflections on the wall. But to me, it's perfect. My husband & I are on our way to our life together + my best friend is pictured in the background.

I am happy. I am content. Thank you Mr. B for loving me since forever. It has not been an easy task, I am sure! If I have shined in my lifetime, it's because you are the light.

Weddings? It's not just about that one day. It's about forever.................
