Happy Summer to all
[Reply]
Hi everyone,
I
am sure everyone is very busy with summer fun....what's left of
summer.
The leaves are starting to turn here in Wisconsin
already.
The crickettes are chirping at night as well.
A sure
sign of what's to come.
Les and I are
taking as many fun weekend trips as possible.
Last weekend we went down to the lakefront for lunch, then went to
Port
Washington to see the 4 or was it 5 "Tall Ships" that were in port
for
several days.
Hundreds of people were down
there.
Lots of food, music etc.
Then went to Dawn's for the rest of the early evening.
It was a great day.......
I hope that
everyone is having a great summer. I am still planning on retiring
the end of next year. Early retirement is fine with me.
Work has been the same with lousy management, but just to know that there
is an end in sight makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Hi to all.

Wow, I've been checking in every few days and was beginning to
think everyone disappeared. Glad to see your post, Pam.
Sounds like you've been keeping busy. I have 12 days of
vacation to use before 10/15 so have a couple things planned. Marsha
and I are going to Branson for a couple days. Believe it or not, I
live a 3 hour drive away and have never been there and its in my own
state.
I've joked in the past that when I retire,
I'm going to start taking those day trips with the senior citizen
groups. Well, my bank started a new club and that's exactly what they
do so I'm signed up for a day trip to Kansas City to see Marion Ross in
"The Last Romance." When I made my reservation, I was told that only
ladies had signed up for that one which made sense since most men don't
care about romantic plays etc . There's a day trip to Lexington (home
of Harry Truman) next month, in November there's an overnight "Christmas in
Branson" (yup, going back then to see Andy Williams and I forgot which
other show) and in December another day trip to KC to see the
Rockettes. So I guess I'm starting my retirement
plans early.
Have also had
a few unpleasant things happen recently which is part of why I haven't
posted or communicated with anyone but I won't go into those things now.
Have a nice weekend, wherever
you're going.
And hello to
anyone else who happens to check in
here occasionally.

I know that Les would hate those day trip things but I
surely would not mind doing that stuff. Ya don't have to drive and
you meet some nice people. You can get some really great deals on
that stuff. Too late to write a lengthy letter tonight. (it's 1 AM)
so will write you tomorrow Ruth to get some information on prices for
that stuff. Good for you. Isn't it something how our minds change
as we get older? Things we may have thought iffy, start to sound
good.

I do enjoy the day trips better than going overnight, but I have done both.
Yep, Pam and Ruth, as you get older your priorities do change. As well as lots of other things.
We have to go with the flow or stay home and brood.
Have a good weekend, everyone. It is pretty hot here now.

It's
kind of depressing around here. The evenings are starting to get
shorter and the kids went back to school this week. The leaves are
starting to turn here in Ohio as well and it's hot. Some things in our garden are still going strong though. We're still getting green
beans out of the garden and they're sooooo good.
Has anyone been watching the Olympics?
Joseph Biden is Barack Obama's running mate.....WOO HOO!

Our garden is still going strong too. I planted a
second crop of beans for fall. We have been watching the olympics.
The opening ceremony was awesome. My sister has been very sick. She
had open heart surgery August 1 (her third). During surgery her lung
was nicked and now she has a staph infection. She is just not
progressing well. I was in Michigan for her surgery. That is the only
traveling Hank and I have done all summer. No camping trips this year
with fuel around $4 a gallon.
The elections should be interesting .... I just hope they aren't
too negative. I am hoping the Obama/Biden ticket is successful

Hi Ruth & Sandy,
I have recorded most of the Olympics and am recording the ending ceremonies as I am on this computer.
Ruth, as you realize, I have been keeping in touch about your sister.
I just watched this video and it really tells it like it is. I had never even heard of Thomas Paine (don't tell Hank)
until I watched "Are you smarter than a 5th Grader last evening". The man won $500,000 with his answer of Paine.
He is answering most of the questions himself and is a Harvard
Graduate. Can't wait until the next show. I think it is on
Wednesday evening to see if he wins the $1,000,000. No one has ever
won it yet.
We do need a change and I was happy with Biden also.
WOO HOO, AS SANDY SAID!!!
Sandy, Ed Cwalinski called and he will also be going to Vegas with
us as well as his mom and two other women. He is trying to get on the
agenda. I hope he does and shows the before and after of his DBS.
Ruth, my son Jeff, is in Montgomery, AL this week on a business
trip. I told him I wish I could have gone with him so I could see you
and Hank.
Take care, everyone and enjoy this cooler weather this week, at least in the Eastern area.
