    Hey Paul,

    Just some quick questions...

    1. What is up with all of the outlook networks, 1,2,3,5,7,6?
Which one works and which ones require a password?
    2. Is the wireless working better than before?
    3. Is there some way to correct the virus on the right side computer that keeps attacking some trojan add?
    4. and could we get some microsoft applications on the computers up front?: word, excel, powerpoint please.

    Thanks Paul!

FRONT DESK: The goal for October is $225k and if we reach our goal it will mean a $25 bonus in your November 7th paycheck.   We are ahead of last year month to date by 15% so this should be doable, if we can continue at this pace we can look at a bigger bonus for this month.

At 11:30, Sat. night I noticed that there are only 4 bikes out front. I checked the sign out sheet and there are so many bikes that never got signed back in it's impossible to tell if there really are 2 bikes out or not. I know it can be hard to keep up with sometimes, but we have to do a better job. This past week I never saw more than 5 bikes locked up, does anyone know if a bike is in for repairs?

I just want to give a heads up to staff working Sunday, that there are no more quarters in the money drawer. I put the last two rolls in the front desk cash drawer at 11:30pm, if people want change for the vending machines or washing machines ask them to use the change machine in the arcade. If you run low, take $5 to the change machine to make change. If the change machine runs out, there is a number at the front desk (on the white notebook) to call for service-they've always responded quickly.

The phone at the right hand side of the front desk is not operating correctly. When you take a call, you can hear the caller but they can't hear you (people were saying, "she hung up on me!") We used the other phone to the extent possible, I doubt anything can be done about Sunday, so good luck. I know we're due for a new phone scene, I hope it's coming soon!

    Troy or Dan,

Do any of the outlets one the side of the pool work? like the one outside 111, 117, or 125?

Also, troy there is a leak in the ceiling above the area by the north side of the stairs near 717. It is coming from above and was a big puddle tonight on the concrete below by the climbing rock.

So...it's been one of those days.

We are out of the lock cleaners for the door locks, the emergency key that manually lets us into rooms is missing (not good) so we definitely need to do something about it asap, both the copy machines in the business center are jammed and will not print, so we are sans printer in the business center.   More wireless problems have popped up throughout the executive hallway.   And last but not least, at least a dozen people in the last two mornings have been complaining about how cool the hot tub has been.

    Thanks,

    Chris S.

Me and Brit saw another mouse tonight, it ran across the lobby around 9:30 PM and ran out of sight about 10 seconds before some guests came strolling through the lobby.   I think it came out of one of the offices (Meade's or Sue's) but I'm not positive which.   Perhaps some traps are in order...or an ambitious cat?

Tonight we had a host of issues with the computers. The printers on all computers were not working properly...  not all computers are sending through tickets to the kitchen and some will not print out bar tickets either. Also end of day procedures were running  very poorly... the program would freeze while loading, after freezing midway thru end of day.

There are a few things I need to pass on to front desk clerks, as follows:

                - I called everyone on the Wait List for 10/17-10/18, in most cases I left a message telling people to call back if they still wanted a room. If you take a call let them know what type of rooms are available and the actual cost, not the cost of the room they had on the Wait List- most where for Standard rooms and those are still not available. If they call back to cancel, you have to reinstate the res., then delete it. Thanks

                - We have decided to stop booking birthday parties. It got to the point that in-house guests couldn't enjoy the pool/hot tub because it was inundated with loud children. In the future, if people call for a birthday party let them know that only hotel guest can use our public facilities (ie. pool, hot tub and atrium.) Also keep in mind that room occupancy is limited to four guest per room. So let's start consistantly asking how many guest will be in a room when booking rooms.

I guess the word is out in the kitchen, so let's make it official.   Skinny Jay's last day will be Sunday October 26th.   We will rebrand the restaurant as Blues & Greens, Local Food, Live Music.   The general theme of Blues & Greens will be in keeping with the sustainability efforts that we have made at the hotel.   We will feature many locally grown and produced products, obviously more in the summer and less in the winter.   We will offer vegan and vegetarian items as well as good old fashion (locally raised beef) hamburgers, other meat items and some seafood.   The menu will have some set items and many specials which will change each night to allow us to take advantage of local produce and meat, which as you can guess will vary in terms of availability.   We will be hiring kitchen staff.   The two main cooks in the Kitchen will be Nebojsa and Dan (at least for the first several months…at some point Dan will move on).

My apologies for keeping you in the dark, I was waiting for Jay to inform his staff.   The restaurant will be closed October 27 through October 31st for repairs and renovations.   The bar will be closed on Oct 27 & 28.   More to follow at this weekend's meeting for dining room staff.   If you have questions before then, please feel free to ask them.

    Hi all,

Here's yet another way for the Front Desk staff to build the massage business and make more money along with the therapists.   We now have a sample gift certificate framed in front of the column on the front desk.   In the MASSAGE NOTEBOOK is an envelope with the certificates.   They are sold at the same price as regular massages.   Fill in the number of MINUTES and sign and date it.   The person purchasing can fill in TO: & FROM:   Take payment and enter it under the massage account as paid.   Enter it in the log as Gift Certificate with the purchaser's name and yours in the booked by column.   You will get 10% for selling it.   When someone books a massage using a Gift Certificate the 10% commission will go to the person booking as well and Diane will receive 10% less commission on massages paid for with Gift Certificates.   When they pay mark GC in the column for method of payment.   Please write clearly to distinguish from CC.   Thanks!!

Front Desk;   The market for hotel rooms has become even more competitive with the slowing economy.   When quoting a rate to a potential guest please preface your rate quote with the following;   "We are a 'Green Hotel', Colorado's first zero waste hotel, the rate includes our deluxe Continental breakfast with organic choices and hot entree, free internet access and an indoor chlorine free pool and hot tub, the rate  will be...'     We are the single best hotel value in Boulder for these and the following benefits;   Closest hotel property to campus, free live music for guests, full service restaurant and bar,  climbing rocks and exercise room, free local calls, 27" television with Direct TV, massage center, 24 hr business center,  and we are locally owned."   PLEASE don't just give a rate, give them a reason to buy  BEFORE they hear what the rate is.   Dan and I appreciate you incorperating this into your daily activity and interaction with potential guests. Thank you.

    Boulder Outlook Hotel Employees,

We now have a "Movie Corner" that we should be proud of.

There is now a new fun thing we can do here at the cure for the common hotel. This is called "Pick of the Week!" There is a sign up sheet that people can do at the front desk. It is there to show our guests the knowledge of our movie-ness. All you have to do is pick a movie that is apart of our collection, sign up for a certain week, and I will be happy to put up a picture of the movie and a plot description. If you want to write "good" comments about your opinion of the movie I will also put them up. Just give me your request and I will be happy to do it.

    Enjoy!
