New WSC would like to work for agency -     07-08-17
    Hello:

I am a new WSC who should be getting my provider number any day
now. I have worked under a WSC in Area 9, mostly doing monthly visits,
progress notes, quarterly reviews, implementation plans with ADTs, and
support plans. I live in Area 15 and would love to work with an agency in
this area. If anyone knows of an agency that needs help, or places I could
apply, please let me know. I don't mind travelling to northern Area 9 as
    well.

    Thanks in advance.

    Oh My!
Why would you want to do that? An agency will talk half the
money you earn at least, probably closer to 2/3rd.

I am just thinking that there is so much to learn, and I want to make sure
any client I would work with has the best possible service. I don't mind
having less income until I am truly proficient.

Most agencies make you sign a no compete.
They will enforce that you do
not work for yourself or for another company doing support coordination for
    up to a year.
Don't sign on with a company that tries to get you to sign a
    noncompete. It's career suicide.

       Non-competition Clause -     07-15-17
I did work for an agency. Her only condition in that regard was that I not
take any of her clients for a period of a year after I left. I found that
to be entirely reasonable and fair. I would never think of trying to steal
    someone else's clients.

My objective here was just to connect with
dedicated and extremely capable people from whom I could learn to do the
best work possible for our consumers. Thanks for the heads up on some
non-competition clauses. I did not know that some agencies might go that
far, and what you described does seem excessive. I am reading the I Budget
Handbook almost every day, so I may set out as a solo provider. But I also
really like working with, and learning from good people.

Why aren't you on the Provider List on APD Website...didn't see your name. Just keep on taking ALL the TRAINING you can and are provided; find a "mentor" and find out the loopholes you need to give the Reps/Recepients the best knowledge. See what others are doing in other States; some have their own websites/FB page with GOOD INFO. People are ALWAYS looking for good WSC/Consultants. Is your name on Area 15 list at Regional in Palm Beach? Love your ATTITUDE!! Let's clone you...but get to work...We need you...Message me at FB...Brenda Hayes (timbuctoo, calif)**

    Hi Brenda,

I was working under a very experienced Support Coordinator
with an agency south of here. I did get wonderful training and
experience, but the work put nearly 4,000 miles on my car in seven months. I
had to travel to southern Palm Beach County. My mom is 83 and is quite
ill, and I just need to be in Area 15, which is where I live. I still need
to learn the I Budget, but am good with computer programs. When I left the
agency, where I was working as a "Treating Provider," while I was waiting
for my provider number, the APD is making me start my application all over
as a "Solo Provider." I prefer working with a committed group, but if that
is not possible I will set out as a solo provider. As you can see, in this
area, there are not many agencies willing to take new people on.
