In the meanwhile, enjoy this sneak peak of the cutest little pre - pre-med candidate. I think he was being recruited with a car load of balloons! While I'm sure he was quite happy that his Daddy graduated this date, those balloons seemed to be all that he required. Such a cutie!
Congratulations & great success to all of this year's graduates.

CONFESSIONS / FLORIDA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Since today is Monday, it seems like a good time to get started in the right direction and own up to how difficult it is to photograph or post pictures of myself. Well, actually it's pretty near impossible unless I want to do a lot of running back and forth with the self timer in the Florida heat in hopes of making it into the picture. But that's not the problem. The actual problem is that I really don't like to be photographed. A cardinal sin for photographers. We're supposed to set the example and ham it up for the camera. Just can't do it, don't see myself a "hammer". I love making everyone else look beautiful but I'm not that good with the self portrait stuff. So here I am (just to be clear, I'm the one on the right). Since, this is honesty day, I'm not above using cute little girls (thanks Olivia!) as decoys.
I've been told many times that adding personal photos makes the blog more "real". So, in the future my goal is to do better. Here's hoping Olivia's got me covered for those too with some more posing ideas.

I try to ignore them, for the most part. A quick snap of the shutter and I move on. They keep drawing me in....I resist. The temptation is great. I know I'm weak, vulnerable. I see all the adorable things they do, I scurry back, just one more I say. I'm here for the main event. Again I remind myself. The bride. The groom. Keep pointing the camera in their direction but I think they taunt me on purpose, saying "Photograph MY cuteness". So I do. I love, love, love it when children are a part of the weddings I photograph. Most of my blog posts do not focus on them because I have so little will power, I would inevitibly make them the main attraction. Here are a few of the adorable little ones at a recent wedding. They had so much fun dancing. I know they will forever remember this night in their lives.
First, they had to work for their supper.
And then it was on to the fun.
And fun it was!

VINTAGE STYLE / FLORIDA EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER

Something I rarely talk about on my blog: shooting style! Every photographer has one, yet most (including me!) say: "Don't lock me in to just one!" And, I've assume if you're looking at my photos, you know what it is or assume it's this or that style. I would say that I'm fairly classic in style with a love for contemporary poses and vivid color. I stalk all the magazines and catalogs to spark creative ideas while never trying to copy. It will always look fake! In particular, Anthropologie is amazing in their ability to make anything look fabulous and for a fleeting moment make most of us forget we can't afford any of it unless it shows up in Vintage consignment shops. As a photographer, I also stalk other photographers blogs. I love to learn about various techniques & sometimes I see such talent, I ask myself "Do you really need to even own a camera?!" But then I say, hey, "focus on what you do well and appreciate the rest", which I do.
Recently I've discovered a blog called ruffledblog.com and I've become addicted to vintage wedding posts. I can only assume that my small town southern roots have been awakened. Much of what I see in these beautiful vintage weddings is what I grew up with, yet at that time thought, "Wow! Can't wait until I can buy the good stuff!" when in fact the simple stuff is incredibly beautiful.
I'm sure my photography style won't become vintage as there's not much of a demand on beachside. The colors on the beach are so vivid and I'd not want to miss that as a bride either but it will be fun to incorporate a few special vintage photos for the wedding album. Secondly, my choice to capture vivid photos is purely selfish. For the money I shell out for Canon prime lenses, I'm going to squeeze out every possible photon!
For any brides interested, there are a few vintage shops in the area. And what would a post be without photos? These photos are from a great little shop in Indialantic (and that's my photo on their homepage, nice discovery!) I digress, the shop is called Cottage Rose. These photos were taken with my favorite Palm Pre camera phone. Thought I would look pretty odd walking thru taking picures with my biiiiiig Canon stuff.
From regular, to vintage, or maybe not. I can' bring myself to going all the way!!
I love this shop. They have everything from vintage teddy bears to boas. Don't those feathers make your face tickle? Who wore that and for what?!

Anytime a wedding involves little girls in billowly white dresses, sashes and bigger girls in elegant blue princess dresses, you just know it's going to be good! And what a beautiful wedding it was for all. These girls, perfect from head to painted blue toes, began the wedding with a touch of grace, beauty and charm.
More beautiful images in the coming days. I am in catch up mode!

UNIQUE WEDDING CAKES / VERO BEACH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Girls, you know this feeling! It can come out of nowhere. Like, when you're strolling the streets of a quaint little downtown area, passing by shop after shop and, then, suddenly you're stopped in your tracks and you just stare. It draws you closer and you try to take in every inch of the visual delight. Well, that's how I felt when I first saw this unique little bakery in Vero Beach simply called Frosting. I stood at the door, and was drawn closer and closer, well, not much closer as it was Sunday and they were closed. I'm hoping the owners were home taking a much deserved rest. Their shop has the most magical display of cakes, cupcakes and other sweet delights. I can't wait to get back there and sink my taste buds into some of their cupcakes and just about anything else they have on hand. I am always on the lookout for special places for wedding cakes for my brides and this, by far, might just be the little slice of heaven to be served up at your wedding. Check them out. I even like their web name: eatfrostingscupcakes.com , as if I needed the encouragement! I also see they designed a cake for Rachel Ray, so that makes me an instant fan!
