It was nothing out of the ordinary. A beautiful couple in search of a wedding photographer. "Sure, that's what I do, let's meet." So, far off the beaten path down A1A in Melbourne Beach, I make the turn. And I'm stopped dead in my tracks. Can't go any further. I get out of my car & look around. It feels like a dream. I've been here before..........in my dreams. As a little southern girl growing up in the smallest town in Georgia, I'd always dreamed of living in "tropical" Florida. (I'd never been futher than North Florida at the time, so what did I know about the "tropics"?) Anytime our relatives from Florida visited, usually in the wintertime for the holidays, I couldn't get over how they smelled fresh, like oranges and the ocean. Their kids had golden hair and tans and it was winter! Exotic! We south Georgia girls were pale, gangly, & I was the lucky one with freckles & mousy brown hair. Eeek!

For a number of years in my very young adult life, I would have a recurring dream of driving down a road exactly like the one pictured. I've always loved that dream & now I am so thankful to be capturing Roxana & David's wedding pictures at their beautiful location. After our meeting, I left believing you're both  as special as your road! You obviously are one of those meant to be couples. And I'm sorry I was a few minutes late. I had to have a moment with your road.

Roxana & David, I can't wait to capture your memories for you. I know they are going to be special. You're beautiful together.

THE REASON / FLORIDA NATURAL LIGHT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER Click here to view ONLY this message
There's a perfectly good reason that I don't get up at the crack of dawn to exercise. Wait, really there's two. Dawn & Exercise are not friends in my world and secondly, there's an awesome gift each time I run by this location late in the evening, especially if I happen to time it just as the light hits the sea oates overlooking the ocean as the sun is going down. Now I know the view must be awesome also when the sun is coming UP but, again,  refer to reason #1 as to why I won't see that view too much. Maybe in my next life! And maybe I won't start every sentence with And either.

For a long time, I've thought that would be a great location to do an engagement shoot. Again, my world says, that looks like "community property" over there since it's an old slab with steps that, in better days, probably heard lots of fun and laughter from some happy family. But today, it's a vacant lot, looking lonely, just waiting for a new owner. Until then, I'm thinking I'll do me a photo shoot there.

Lots of ideas for these steps. Just hope there's nothing slithering in those grasses.

MY ASSISTANTS / MELBOURNE FL PHOTOGRAPHER Click here to view ONLY this message
Meet my assistants. They don't do weddings but when you call my office, most likely you will hear them. They love to chime in, and while I can't exactly understand what they're saying, I'm sure it's something about how much they love being photographed, too.

These little girls are sisters, and like weddings & babies, they make me very happy.

I brake everytime I pass by this place when heading south on highway A1A, which ususally means I'm on my way to  Vero Beach for new flip flops. Even beach girls need new attire! Just the look of the place has always peaked my interest because it looks so peaceful, serene & quaint.

So it was today that I just decided to stop by, driving right in, and taking out my very discret & (very loved)  palm pre to snap a few pictures. I am a photographer after all, so doesn't that make it ok?  Ooopss, here comes the owner & I'm all ready to apologize but found myself being welcomed right in for a tour.  It seems The SeaShell Suites is a Boutique Hotel right here along our stretch of the beach. And anything with "boutique" in the title sounds perfect to me. The mangers Henry & Charmaine Walker make the place so welcoming, with attention to every detail. It's the perfect place for small, intimate weddings. And what's a post without pictures?

Heading down to the beach was amazing. So many beautiful things to see. In particular, there are sculptured sea turtles along the way & I'm all about the sea turtles. Those Moms have an incredible journey to get those eggs to the beach for hatching! Each cottage has a unique name, ie. Sea Horse, etc.

The beach view made me want to go & sit under the umbrella like I owned the place. Looking north to south, it looked as if I was on a deserted island. I liked that part a lot!

While I didn't really want to leave (who would!?), I felt it was time to stop being a pest & get going. But, just as I was driving away I do believe I saw a ceramic pig but I felt it best that I not brake again. I'll check that one out next time!

What a great find for small intimate weddings! Perfect! Can't wait to photograph a bride here!

VENDOR SHOUTOUT / COCOA BEACH PHOTOGRAPHER Click here to view ONLY this message
For as long as I have been photographing weddings, I have made it a mission to be on the lookout for vendors & crafters that put their heart & soul into their work. Not just vendors that do a good job and call it a day. Put another way, vendors that really care & want you to  long remember the products they supply on your wedding day. Most of my vendor lists involve yummy cakes, beautiful flowers, & the best venues for your wedding. Recently, though, my vendor circle was completed when I met Phyllis Hopkins, a local jewelry crafter. Phyllis makes custom designed pieces. Just describe what you want, & you'll get it. These pieces are at great prices & make the most unique & truly appreciated gifts for your bridesmaids. She can even make adorable little pieces for the flower girls or junior bridesmaids. I am so glad I found her services. She's even working on a few pieces to try out for my newborn photography. Can't wait to see what she's creating!

Phyllis is located in Cocoa & you can email her at [email protected]

RANDOM 4TH / FLORIDA PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER Click here to view ONLY this message
There's always a box of sparklers in a drawer somewhere in my house. It's the same box that gets moved from one to another each time that drawer gets cleaned out. (Since that's not very often, they're bound to be safe there.) I can't part with them. I don't know why, but they make me smile. I even took them to a wedding once in my camera bag intenting to let the bride & groom have fun with them on the beach at night & take a picture, smiles & all. I couldn't do it. I left them safely in my bag. Were they the right couple to enjoy them? I wasn't sure.

So, here I am, again on this 4th of July smiling down at my box of sparklers. I think I must have a faint memory of sparklers being my 1st awareness of fun on the 4th, but more than that, maybe it was my Dad gently holding my hand, twirling the sparkley diamonds round and round. Delightful. Take your children out tonight in the darkness of night, stillness all around, and let them twirl sparklers to their heart's delight. AND this time, do them a favor, and take a picture of them so they'll know for sure it happened. Tonight, I might let at least one of my sparklers "sparkle".

    Happy 4th of July everyone.
