UPDATE FOR KSV MEMBERS
There is to be a street dedication for
Thomas (Tommy/Buzzy) Eichler in Chicago on June 13th at 12:00 noon. It
will be at the corner of School and Opal (Toms last address). It would be
a great Honor for any and all KSV members in the area to attend. Tommy has
always been a great member and advocate for our veterans. What an
Honor!

Quiet” at Khe Sanh meant the absence of North Vietnamese assaults,
but there were constant patrol actions, sudden sightings of the enemy and
incessant shelling. A few days ahead of Tet, the Vietnamese began using
heavy artillery – 122 mm, 152 mm and 130 mm guns – for the first time in
the war. Defenders became familiar with the pattern of the bombardments and
adopted the "Khe Sanh shuffle,” a cover-run-duck technique to minimize
dangers from the enemy artillery, rockets and mortars. Every day the
defenders counted, and Lownds reported, the number of shells that hit
allied positions. The record was 1,307 shells on Feb. 23. Through the
entire month of March, the North Vietnamese sustained their bombardment at
an average of 150 shells per day. Soon enough, bunker fatigue complemented
the shuffle. North Vietnamese histories record that 243 fire missions were
conducted during the high siege. They note expenditure of 9,423 rounds
before the allies began their relief effort.

Song That Mentions Khe-Sanh in description

My name is Don Friedsam & I was with Delta Co. 1/26, 3rd platoon,
3rd squad weapons attached.
I have posted a song I wrote on
you tube on my channel Texas Good Stuff Music
The song is
called "In My Memory" in the description below the song you will find
mention of Khe-Sanh & 1/26. I started having thoughts of the lyrics
while in Nam and finally wrote & recorded it when I got back home to
Houston TX.It is a country song/ ballad . I was a member of a top rated
rock n roll band in Houston called "The Del-Reys" for years before the
Corps got me.So I have always been in and around music.I am still playing
guitar and recording. Just wanted to share with all the Khe-Sanh Vets.
A little music in our lives is a good thing.
I started out to post on you tube for family, friends,
& neighbors, but thought maybe all my fellow Khe-Sanh vets might enjoy
it too.You do not have to like & subscribe but if you like the song

Leader, mentioned to me that prep support fire was not possible due to
too many CAV Choppers in the Hill 700 TOAR...

In addition: I remember Ron telling me he'd been promoted to Cpl the day
before 700 and made 1st Squad Leader... Ron, said Piazza was complaining
about something being all wrong... Moments later they walked right into
the NVA ambush.... NVA in Spider holes... some wearing Marine 782. Piazza
killed instantly... Ron, McGraf, and Piazza were all from Long Island...
