Temporary travel restrictions BAJA
Click here to view this message in a separate window
Due to the Covid 19 virus epidemic the travel for all mission activities
has been temporary suspended by Manos Con Alas Ministries. We are working
currently to build out a permanent dental clinic at the First Church of the
Nazarine in Maneadero, BAJA a suburb of Ensenada. We have developed a new
friend in LA who is a philanthropist and has connections in Maneadero and
in Tijuana. IRS DEMO his LA company has agreed to store and help import our
dental, medical, eye, and chiropractic equipment by his personal company
SEMI trucks to Baja as his gift. Carlos Herrera will be a great asset to
our work in BAJA in the future. First let’s all stay healthy and return our
countries to normal.

July 5-13 Ensenada church and prison outreach
Click here to view this message in a separate window
Our plans are now finalized for our trip south. Four dentists have
volunteered to serve during the week of Sat July 5-Friday July 11 in
Ensenada.
Four will be flying to Ensenada Friday the 5th of July.
We check into La Quinta Bonita hotel and prepare for our Sat full day
Ensenada Prison health clinic with dentistry and chiropractic. 25 men in
the prison are signed up for care with Dr Bill Weissman serving with myself
and assistants María Carvajal and Orsolina Garcia. Most tools and
equipment needs to be brought in and cleared through mexican prison guards.
Pray that all equipment will pass through the security without issue. Sevy
Chavez and Alma De Jesus will be our spiritual agents helping these men
process their personal issues with God and man.
Our main team
arrives Sat and Sun and on Monday the 8th we spend the first of five full
days serving with Medicine, Dentistry, Chiropractic, and prescription
eyewear for our hosting church, First Church of the Nazarine Maneadero.
Pray that there with be no blockage or our ability to serve.
Most of our So Cal team returns Wed night to LA, and a few of us stay
through Sat with Dr Mark DeLeon DDS and his assistants working Wed PM to
Friday PM.
On Sat we all pack up for home.
Many
thanks to Carl Dawson, leader of His Healing Hands of Templeton CA for his
partnership and organization. Our combined teams number about 30 volunteer

Ensenada/Maneadero clinic update July
Click here to view this message in a separate window
We have been busy getting ready for the new outreach planned in July
5th-13th, 2019 Our vehicles and Dental MDU are now staged and stored in a
private lot south of the Ensenada airport just 10-15 minutes drive from the
service site at First Church of the Nazarine in Maneadero BCN Mexico. This
new location is much better to serve our future needs and a good
partnership for the future with the hosting church. Pastor Jorge and Nohemi
are excited for us to come and serve the 5 days of July 8-12 at their main
and sister church.
We have recently set up a PRISON outreach two days before at
Ensenada Men’s prison. This was organized by well known evangelist Alma De Jesus of TJ,( and Chula
Vista) who has created creat alliances with prison officials in Tecate, TJ,
and Ensenada.
Our prison outreach will be fewer
people with Dr Bill Weissman as the dentist, myself as chiropractor, and
the His Healing Hands Eye team along with Alma, Tony, Sevy Chavez and
others. The prison outreach team will fly in Ensenada July 5th and the bulk of our team will drive from LA Sunday the 8th of July.
Pray how you may become involved going, sending, or
giving.
We now have a Pay Pal account for easy registration
and gifting as you feel leg.

Hotel selection July 6-13 Ensenada
Click here to view this message in a separate window
Dear Doctors and mission team
I just reserved a block of 7 double rooms to accommodate up to 14 people for our Maneadero Baja outreach at the Estero Beach Resort Hotel. The website is the URL below.
This is where I celebrated my birthday last year on an Ensenada mission trip. A beachfront Resort on an estuary just south of Ensenada Airport. It has a nice restaurant and is a gate guarded resort. The cost per room is $134.00/night or $67/pp double occupancy. They have a beach boardwalk and waterfront access.
If you wish "bare bones” (least expensive) accommodations we have a block of rooms reserved by His Healing Hands at the (formerly) El Joker Motel across from the Ensenada Airport which has basic clean (motel 6 ) level rooms for about $30/night or $15/pp double occupancy.
I need to tell the hotel manager by June 1 how many rooms we need. I will drop the rooms we don’t need at the Resort by that date. So please let me know the level of room you wish for your budget and comfort. Please email Claudia Badano for questions or to reserve for the trip. [email protected].
This will be for many a drive down trip which also lowers the fee. Those wishing to get a ride may contact Claudia or Jack hardy of His Healing Hands.
Check out the website below for the nice place.

Madeadero and Ensenada week-long outreach
Click here to view this message in a separate window
July 6-July 13, 2019 ENSENADA
The Maneadero First church of the Nazarene and their pastor Jorge and
Nohemi have agreed to host His Healing Hands Ministry, a worldwide medical
outreach organization, and Manos Con Alas Ministries in a clinic outreach.
This will take place in a small village off hwy 1 10 miles south of
Ensenada airport in an agricultural valley near the coast and La Bufadora
blowhole road turnoff.
We need 3-4 chiropractors, 3-4 dentists, optometry staff, several general medical MD, PA, RN staff, dental assistants, opticians, helpers and equipment.
This will be a fly down and drive down trip for those that want to bring their own car. Driving down may allow you to give fewer than the 5 days of clinic if that is not possible for you. This is after 4th of JULY holiday, with July 4th the Thursday before the trip.
There will be much free time in the evenings after office hours end at about 5 PM. Ensenada downtown and the harbor shopping there is only a 30 min drive and the Estero Beach resort and hotel is only about 15-20 min north.
One of the elders at the host church is a fisherman and there may be a day a few of us may be able to join him on his boat for Sportsfishing.

August 8-10 final preparations
Click here to view this message in a separate window
The Rosarito Beach trip accommodations have been changed due to high
season rates and 100% occupancy at the Rosarito Beach Hotel our usual hotel
on the trip. Due to August being the resort's busiest month we had to
change to a guest quarters near the clinic site that is maintained by
Calvary Chapel Montebello CA. Abel Maldonado has invited us to use the
facilities just a mile or two from the clinic site in Colonia Constitucion
at Capilla Calvario Rosariito. The facility has wonderful clean rooms and
bedding and we will occupy the whole place since no other teams are booked
there this particular weekend. I have toured the facility on past trips
and we should be very comfortable there. They have a large kitchen so we
can prepare some of our own food and save time in the morning when we need
to get the clinic open. We should have time on Friday afternoon to visit
and see the beach. Shorts, flip flops, and maybe a swimsuit might be worth
packing if desired.

November 1-3 Rosarito Outreach with Flying Samaritans
Click here to view this message in a separate window
Manos Con Alas will be partnering with the Flying Samaritans Rosarito
chapter to put on a dental, chiropractic, and optical clinic the weekend of
Nov 1-3, 2014. I have been involved with the Flying Samaritans since 1982
when I began trips to Baja to treat with chiropractic. This group has been
serving the poor in Baja since the 60s.
We have no commitments for
this November team as yet and the doctor and staff spots are WIDE OPEN.
This is a great opportunity for chiropractic, dental, and medical students
to gain field experience and clinic credits. High school student health
care majors, or Spanish speakers could get international and community
service credit to use on college entrance applications for setting
themselves apart for college admission.
Please let us know

hotel and clinic. So MCAM involvement here plays a big role in the team
getting here and moving around. We will be in a supportive roll to our
Colorado mission partners. The previous owner of our mission T210 aircraft
Rick Weaver will be piloting team members from Montrose in his newer Cessna
P210. It will be good to work alongside and support this CAO eye team.
There are 8-10 aircraft flying from 3 different areas to serve here
MCAM will be planning an outreach this summer
in the Rosarito Beach area with partnering churches and local volunteers in
Mexico. A date has not yet been set.

November 8-10 Rosarito Outreach
Click here to view this message in a separate window
The November team is coming together nicely with two dentists
committed and one "maybe". We are in need of a medical doctor, two
chiropractic doctors, and an optometrist/optician to make a really
effective team. The place of service will be the Calvary Chapel Rosarito
church off the main toll road at the north end of Rosarito near the
McDonald's restaurant.
If you have friends or family having
these skills that would like to serve in Baja for the weekend of Nov 8-10
have them contact me directly at 626 893 3025 by text or voice, or at [email protected].
We have
need for a pilot/doctor combo to fly a few people and serve with treatment
as well. SO far we have 8 signed up but we have room for about 4-5 more to
fly and an additional 6-8 to drive down for those who prefer not to fly to
Tijuana, Mexico.
We would like to have the team finalized by
one week from today so please notify us of your interest as soon as
possible.

Our Mobile Dental Unit has MADE it to Mexico, by the grace of God.
I took the day off to bring the unit down and the trip was eventful to say
the least, but with all the delays and mechanical and border hassles, we
MADE it safely.
Thanks for all the prayer and the support and
the products and supplies we took down with the unit.

Dental MDU trailer
Click here to view this message in a separate window
The MDU (mobile dental unit) is being installed with a top end 7000WATT
Onan generator in Azusa which is costing us $3,700. The old generator was
inop so a new one that could power the AC, two dental chairs and operatorys
, lights, air compressor, and water heater is being installed with a
guarantee.
We could use some additional in kind gifts to finish the
trailer and import to Baja by early April for the April 12-14 outreach.
Dental supplies are needed to stock the unit like cotton rolls, bibs, 2x2s,
prophy polish, trays, probes, hygiene and extraction handpieces and drill
and burr kits. X-ray film and processing chemicals. Anything for daily
general dentistry. Impression materials and hardware, amalgam supplies,
bonding materials and lights, anything that can be used by our volunteer

San Quintin Brigada Oct 12-14 outreach trip
Click here to view this message in a separate window
Dear MCAM team members,
Our October Team is
shaping up beautifully with your commitment to join us, your financial
support, and your prayers. Three pilots and aircraft are booked with an
additional backup aircraft for add on team members who may join in the next
two weeks. We have two dentists and three chiropractic team members. We
plan on hopefully adding a PA or RN to the team.
Our outreach
will take place in the "Salon Socia"l in Lazaro Cardenas a small town 5
miles south of San Quintin and directly across from the military airport
and SQN VOR is on the field there making it easy for pilots to locate.
One of our mission vans is now based in Campo Lorenzo San
Quintin, with another to be delivered next month. This will give us a four
airplane capability in this area for ground transportation. We will land
at Campo Lorenzo airstrip on the Bay then leave the aircraft securely
parked there in the American Community. From there we will take the vans to
Clinica La Esperanza in Ejido Nueva Odisea some 10 miles south for base
operations
Hope some more of you will choose to join us in
October.

11 days until our next trip
Click here to view this message in a separate window
Dear Manos mission team,
Our Santo Tomas and San Vicente outreach is just
11 days away. We have two dentists in Dr and Pilot Marc Haney, and Dr.
Alicia Borgman. Two chiropractic students Noah and Soloman of SCU have
committed this past week.
We are short a MEDICAL person such as an MD or
PA or NP. Your prayers for a medical practitioner who would answer the call
to serve next week would nicely complete our team. Even without Medical
provider we should serve many people, but it would be nice to have a
complete team this trip.
Joining us will be a San Diego based Pre-Med
student team of 12 to serve with. They will be observing and helping where
needed, and we will eat in the garage area instead of the kitchen since we
will number over 25 in the team.
Let me know by my cell at 626-893-3025
if a medical practitioner is found and ready to serve short notice.

April mission team to Baja 27-29
Click here to view this message in a separate window
Dear Manos Doctors and team of paraprofessionals,
This time in four weeks
I will be in the kitchen of San Vicente mission base cooking many of you
breakfast, for the 10 hour day of service we have ahead of us. What a great
time to get blessed while serving so many needy people.
We have seats
open for the trip. We need a DC and a DC student form SCU. We need at least
one additional dentist to help Dr Haney with the overflow dental demand,
and an MD or PA/Nurse Practioner.
If you have a friend interested then
contact them and get them in contact with us.
The road to San Vicente is
greatly improved with recent roadwork making the drive from the Ensenada
airport less bumpy.
My board member Lauri Morrill will be contacting you
for confirmation, paperwork if needed, and trip deposits. With fuel up 50%
for Avgas in the past two years we have kept the fees the same. This helps
MORE of you to make it down to Baja.

October 21-23 San Vicente trip update
Click here to view this message in a separate window
October 21-23 trip update for volunteers to be.
Out mission trip sign ups are well underway. We have the veteral Dr Jim Hodge DDS with his assistant Patty Ayala signed up to head the dental team along with Trey Jangaard and a friend from USC Dental School to handle the dental patient load. Trey father Mike Jangaard will be coming to do support work, expert BBQ duties and whatever else mechanically theat may be needed. Maria Carvajal our periennneal constant will help with the translation for doctors in any area.
We have three airplanes committed with one C-182QRG in the "wings" if needed to be piloted by Colin Loveness. Dr Ray Bouchereau, DC of San Dimas is signed up with his C-T210, to join our mission T-210 N6402N flown by Dr Bud, and our mission TU206 which will be flown by Richard Smith of Monrovia.
There are several spots open and available for this trip, as we have more aircraft seats available than usual and a driving team may not be needed if the dental trailer is not approved for importation before the trip. We have a partner helping us with connections for importation fo the dental trailer, Louis Rosado of Medical Mission Adventures who coincidentally just built a dental BUS for domestic use and disaster relief (eg: Katrina)
We could defintely use a female nurse practitioner or MD for female exams. We could use a small worship team, or a least a guitarist.

Manos Con Alas Ministries (MCAM) is a non-profit, religious, 501c(3) corporation that provides free medical and dental services for indigent persons in the State of Baja California Sur and (BCN) Norte, Mexico, and other areas and countries, through personnel that volunteer their time and services.
Because of the remote locations of the clinics through which MCAM dispenses its services, most transportation to and from the clinic sites is provided by charitable owner pilots of private aircraft who volunteer their time and aircraft.
I understand that instead of flying with MCAM volunteer pilots, I may make my own arrangements for transportation to the MCAM clinics by private or public air or surface transportation.
2.
Assumption of Risk
.
I understand that traveling to and from
Mexico, and in particular traveling in private aircraft, necessarily entails a risk of grave bodily injury or death from pilot error or other circumstances.
Private aircraft flights can crash from mechanical failure, negligent maintenance, range and altitude limitations of aircraft, defects in runways and unimproved landing strips, interference by wildlife, limited or non-existent air traffic control and radar coverage in Mexico, limited approach procedures to controlled airports, lack of instrument approach and departure procedures at airports of use in Mexico, limited or non-existent search and rescue in Mexico, unfavorable weather or terrain conditions, latent defects in aircraft or other modes of transportation such
as van, bus, train, or car, the possibility of contaminated fuel, hostile environment or government activities, terrorist acts, lack of sufficient security for aircraft and personnel, or other causes, or a combination of causes.
I expressly agree to assume the risks inherent in travel to, from, and within
Mexico, and other countries by private aircraft or otherwise.
3.
No MCAM Insurance
.
I understand and acknowledge that MCAM maintains no insurance.
It has neither liability nor workers’ compensation insurance.
Further, I understand and acknowledge that MCAM’s directors and officers may be immune to suit and that, other than the insurance carried by the MCAM volunteer pilot with whom I travel, there will be no other funds from which to recover in the event of an aircraft or vehicular accident.
4.
Volunteer Pilot Insurance
.
I understand and acknowledge that MCAM requires its volunteer pilots to have a minimum of $1 million aircraft liability insurance per aircraft accident, with sub-limits no less than $100,000 per passenger I understand and acknowledge that the liability insurance carried by the MCAM volunteer pilot with whom I travel will be the sole source of recovery available to me and my survivors in the event of an accident in which I sustain injuries or death.
5.
MCAM Volunteer Pilot - The Final Authority As to The Safety of The Flight
.
I understand and acknowledge that for practical reasons, MCAM may introduce me to a volunteer pilot for the purpose of flying to
Mexico on a MCAM mission, but that MCAM makes no representations or warranties of the pilot’s experience or qualifications.
While MCAM requires its volunteer pilots to have adequate flight experience, and
strongly
suggests
an instrument rating, and adequate
Mexico cross country experience, and to meet all other requirements of the Federal Aviation Regulations, I understand and acknowledge that MCAM relies upon the veracity of its volunteer pilots to certify that all of MCAM requirements have been met.
I further understand and acknowledge that the MCAM volunteer pilot alone will determine the place and time of departure, the safety and airworthiness of his or her aircraft, the route or path of the flight, the adequacy of the weather, trip security, the altitude of the flight, and the various airports at which the pilot intends to land.
I further acknowledge that MCAM is not responsible for these choices and decisions made by the pilot. I understand and acknowledge that the volunteer pilot with whom I fly has the sole and ultimate responsibility for my safe transportation to and from
Mexico for purposes of the MCAM mission.
I further understand and acknowledge that at any time I have the right to refuse to fly with any particular pilot who volunteers his or her services for the MCAM mission.
6.
Understanding of Risks
.
By signing this Waiver and Liability Release, I am indicating that I fully understand and am aware of the risks referred to above and that, after consideration of those risks, I wish to participate in the charitable activities of MCAM, including flying within an aircraft owned or flown by a volunteer pilot, without imposing any risk of liability on MCAM.
7.
Release and Waiver of Liability
.
Being fully informed of the risks of traveling to and from Mexico, and other countries to participate in a MCAM mission, and having agreed to assume those risks, I, on behalf of my heirs, successors, assigns, agents, employees, and representatives, hereby release and forever discharge:
a.
MCAM and its directors, officers, volunteers, agents, attorneys and employees, and their families from any and all claims, debts, liabilities, demands, obligations, costs, expenses, actions and causes of action of every nature, character, and description, known or unknown, including personal injury and death, which I may now own or hold, or have at any time heretofore owned or held, or may at any time hereafter own or hold by reason of any matter, cause or thing whatsoever, occurred, done, omitted or suffered to be done, in connection with my travel by aircraft or other vehicle to and from clinics and medical activities presently or hereafter sponsored or organized by MCAM, its directors, officers, employees, members or volunteers, AND
b.
Volunteer pilots who fly MCAM missions from any personal liability beyond the aircraft liability insurance coverage they provide in accordance with MCAM requirements, for any and all claims, debts, liabilities, demands, obligations, costs, expenses, actions and causes of action of every nature, character, and description, known or unknown, including personal injury and death, which I may now own or hold, or have at any
c.
time heretofore owned or held, or may at any time hereafter own or hold by reason of any matter, cause or thing whatsoever, occurred, done, omitted or suffered to be done, in connection with my travel by aircraft or other vehicle to and from clinics and medical activities presently or hereafter sponsored or organized by MCAM, its directors, officers, employees, members or volunteers.
8.
Waiver of
California Civil Code Section 1542
.
Further, I am advised that California Civil Code § 1542 provides that:
A GENERAL RELEASE DOES NOT EXTEND TO CLAIMS WHICH THE CREDITOR DOES NOT KNOW OR SUSPECT TO EXIST IN HIS FAVOR AT THE TIME OF EXECUTING THE RELEASE, WHICH IF KNOWN BY HIM MUST HAVE MATERIALLY AFFECTED HIS SETTLEMENT WITH THE DEBTOR.
I understand and acknowledge the significance and consequences of California Civil Code
§ 1542 and hereby elect to waive the benefits of its provisions, with the intent that this release and waiver of liability shall include claims known or unknown, and unknown and unsuspected.
9.
Full and Complete Release
.
I understand and acknowledge that this Waiver and Release of Liability is intended as a complete and continuous release for all trips or transportation provided to me by MCAM volunteer pilots on or after the date that I sign this Waiver and Release of Liability.
10.
Right to Legal Counsel
.
I understand and acknowledge
that I may seek advice from legal counsel if I have any doubt before signing this Agreement.
By signing this Agreement I acknowledge that I have either sought the advice of legal counsel or wish to now intentionally waive the opportunity to talk to a lawyer by my signature on this Agreement.
11.
Understanding of This Document
.
I understand and acknowledge
that by signing this Agreement, I am confirming that I understand the language used in it.
I represent that if there is any word or phrase that I did not understand, that I have sought the advice of an attorney or other person for an explanation.
I acknowledge that neither I nor my heirs or representative will later claim in the event of injury, death or property damage, that I did not understand what I was signing in this Agreement.
12.
Indemnification Obligation
.
I agree to hold harmless and indemnify (reimburse) the parties being released for any costs or attorney’s fees that may be incurred as a result of any challenge to this Release or legal action brought in contravention of this Agreement, in litigation resulting from my injury, death or property damage, in connection with any trip with MCAM.
13.
Full and Complete Agreement
.
I understand and acknowledge
that this Release is a full and complete agreement with regard to the risks I am taking by embarking on a MCAM trip.
No other documents, oral promises or other information can be used to modify or alter the terms of this Waiver and Liability Release.
This agreement is a fully integrated, final and complete statement of the agreement I have entered into.
If any provision of this Release is declared invalid, the remaining provisions remain enforceable.
There are four (4) pages in this agreement and Release, and I understand and agree with all 4 pages by initialing each page in the lower right hand corner by the page numbers.
