WADE IS NOW THE LITTLE BROTHER / ISLA IS THE BIG SISTER

I love being able to mix things up a bit. When I photograph newborns, it is usually because I previously photographed the parents' wedding or, as in Wade's case, I photographed his big sister, Isla, a few years ago when she was born.  I couldn't imagine limiting myself to only photographing newborns, because, it's pretty time consuming &  requires a whole lot of patience. For those photographers that only work in the field of newborns, I bow to you!  So, for me, it's more of a creative outlet & I try to produce something more intimate & personally meaning to the parents, rather than producing an exact replica of what's circulating around the internet. Not to say I don't gain from those ideas because that would be disingenuous.

And capturing a family photograph with a 2 year old is not easy either! Mom & Dad were so patient & we finally pulled one off. Aside from our struggles with co-operation for a photo, what 2 year old wants to do that for fun anyway? So may other things to do. I think Isla is going to be an awesome big sister. She is very loving toward this little guy.

I find all newborns conk out immediately if you take them outside in the Florida heat. No matter what pose, he would become so relaxed and sleepy. We, on the other hand, lost 5 lbs each in water weight. Seriously.......

Mom was thrilled. First smiles.......... or what looked like smiles!

Love the alligator themed nursery and apple green colors.

    More big sis......

I'll end with this photo because it is my favorite. When we turned this little guy over, he immediately curled into the fetal position and held onto his feet. Just so amazing that he grew just like this for so many months. The wonders of life! Ben, Lea, & Isla, your family is perfect! Thanks for trusting me to capture these first photos........

I called her "Rosanna" for the longest time, which is actually her name but to all her friends + family, she is "Judith". So, like that, instantly, she became Judith! You can't go thru the planning stages of a wedding with someone and at the end of the process, and not become friends!  So, in addition to being grateful for capturing these special moments for Judith & John, I am also grateful to have met them and all of their family. Judith is from the Dominican Republic so it was fun meeting her family and watching the two families blend together as if they had known one another forever. Family is everything to these two & from the beginning, they planned a family centered celebration. Lots & lots of delicious food, lots & lots of laughter & hugs! If not for the beautiful spanish language flowing all around, this felt much like my own Southern family. Judith held to her goal of keeping her wedding simple, but it was also elegant, as is Judith!

Judith decided to get ready for her big day at home so it just seemed more relaxing, with less stress that normally comes with moving to varying locations.

Of course it was hot & sunny, but the day was gorgeous!

I love the idea of being able to capture all the little details in the bride's home. Seems like the memory will be have more value in years to come.

I was amazed that Judith made her own wedding cake. Ok, so, yes, she is a highly talented chef now working at The Cocoa Beach Hilton Oceanfront, but still, how did she do that?!!

After a little cake + dancing, we set out to capture some special photos at varying locations. I highly recommend this and when it comes time to creating  your wedding album, having so much variety is super awesome.

Oooopppps...and on your wedding day! Just for fun. This officer was so sweet. Look at that baby face. Wonder if he looks like that when being stopped for a traffic infraction! Our local officers are so cool. Big shout out for the picture with us!

What a beautiful ending to your day, Judith & John. Here's hoping your day was as perfect as you had imagined! You are perfect together. Happiness forever!
