What does basketball have to do with a wedding? For Inez & David: Everything! When I met up with Inez a few weeks before her wedding, I asked how she & David met. She showed me a picture of a young athlete & a beautiful girl. They grew up knowing each other. Even then, that picture showed a meant to be couple. But as life has its way, ambitions took them in separate directions. That can happen when you're young, right? (Remember young!) Well, that love never went away and thankfully David located Inez many years later. Shoutout to today's social media.
Back to basketball. To understand the connection, check out David's bio. Pretty cool stuff, agree? I loved the fact that David's father was a Harlem Globetrotter. I grew up loving the Globetrotters. Coming from a smmmmal southern town, basketball was everything to us, too. Pretty much, that sport held our town together thru those Friday & Saturday night games. Great memories. So getting to meet David, Inez & their families was a real thrill and privilege for me. It felt like an instant connection. Basketball families know how to spread the love around.
David & Inez's love came full circle by celebrating their marriage in a small, intimate ceremony at their beautiful home in Viera surrounded by their friends & family from all over, and of, course, many of them were athletes and coaches as well.
I love how Inez understands everything about David. See the love? I quickly came to see David as a driven person, that demands the best from himself and wants to excel in everything he does. Inez calls him "impatient". In a good sort of way. She gets it. So do I! How else could he have achieved all that he has in his career?!
Smitten means you're perfectly content to wear a silky scarf and hold your wife's flowers. Inez, David is smitten with you.
David & Inez, your story is like a beautiful love novel. One that you can't put down and where you say just one more page..........but then you keep on reading. It's that good! So happy that you will be picking up where you left off many years ago.....adding lots and lots of new chapters, all with happy endings.
